Curator: Monika Szewczyk

Mykola Ridnyi is one of the most prominent contemporary Ukrainian artists, creator of installations, objects and video works, member of the SOSka artistic collective and a two-time finalist of the PinchukArtCentre Prize competition for young Ukrainian artists (in 2009 with the SOSKA collective and in 2011 individually). Ridnyi is a sensitive observer and commentator on socio-political reality.

The exhibition refers to the figure of the Ukrainian anarchist and revolutionary, Nestor Makhno, appearing in found footage film productions, and to the fate of the artist’s great-grandfather Ivan Krupski and his anarchist activities (including in the Makhno’s group), whose traces are discovered in documents.

We also recommend a curatorial tour around the exhibition.

The event is co-organized and co-financed by the National Centre for Culture
